5 Wardrobe Updates for Fall

It’s the perfect time of the year to update, replace, and add pieces to your wardrobe. The fall feels like the start of a new year to most of us, even more so than the *actual* new year! I love to take this opportunity to revisit some things in my wardrobe that I know will get all the love and attention over the fall and winter, like my denim and layers. It’s also a good time to check in on those things we wear daily and make sure they are up to snuff. You might also want to take a look at where you can freshen up some things in your wardrobe this time of the year.

Here is my short list of 5 things you should make sure are ready to go and feeling fresh for fall.

Denim

Number one let’s make sure all your denim fits. If you had any size or body changes over the summer we want to make sure you update your denim to match. Remember, change your clothes not your body!

Second, add in new colors and styles if you have the space. Make grab a black wash denim or pair of distressed jeans. It’s also a good time to adventure in new fits, like a wide leg or cropped flare.

Last, what do you need more of. If jeans are your daily uniform make sure you have the right amount to rotate through till spring.

Bras

EEEK! I know, how many of you are reading this and realizing you haven’t gotten a new bra in so long that you can’t even remember. I have to bring down the hammer on this one, sorry! You should be updating your bras at least once a year. Having the right bra with the right fit is a game changer when it comes to how your clothes fit, feel, and look!

Some of our favorite places to shop are Soma, Nordstrom, Third Love, Torrid.

Jackets

Jackets make such a huge different to a wardrobe that we made them an essential on the Wardrobe Essentials Checklist. We can’t live without them, and we don’t think you should either. Trust me, you can find some great fall jackets that are functional while still delivering great style.

Here are some things to consider and look for!

  1. color (is it good for you)

  2. texture (is it comfortable)

  3. details (does it match your style)

  4. length (does it fit your shape)

  5. weight (Is it functional for your climate)

Flats

If I tracked every time I was asked about good closed toe shoes for fall and winter, it’d be off the charts. When it’s warm, footwear comes easy. When it’s cold it’s like we all forget how to dress our feet. Make sure you have some weather appropriate options for your look this season!

Some styles to checkout…

  1. mules

  2. booties

  3. sneakers

  4. loafers

Color

If I can convince you to stop living in neutrals….

I know I know, neutrals feel safe. Neutrals feel like they cover and camouflage. I get it, but let’s make color less scary!

Start by finding out what your best colors are, and we love Created Colorful for this service. Then here are some place we recommend adding it in..

  • cardigans

  • knit basics

Yep, that’s it. If color is new to you and your wardrobe you can start small and simple!
