  1. It reduces decision fatigue. You’ve been there, standing in front of a closet full of clothes and you can not decide what to wear. There are either too many options, not enough options, or the wrong options. When you you build your best wardrobe you will have an organized closet where you can quickly find what you are looking for, be able to put together a flawless outfit, and feel good in what you are wearing. You will spend less time trying on a million outfits that you don’t like, instead you will have an outfit building system that makes is effortless to get dressed.

  2. It protects shut down of your executive function. When you are getting ready for the day and you are lost in the process, or struggle to follow the steps it takes to put yourself together, getting dressed can feel more confusing and a dreaded task. When you build your best wardrobe you are setting yourself up for success, where you can get dressed with out having to overthink. You don’t have to overthink what you are going to wear, where the clothes are that you want to wear, and using our signature outfit building blocks will do the work for you when it comes to putting it all together.

  3. It helps you spend less money on clothes, but actually have more to wear. Raise of hands, who has something hanging in their closet that they bought months ago with the tags still attached and never worn? It’s okay, we’ve all been there. Buying something that we thought was a ‘good deal’ but ended up not really be a ‘good buy’. When you bring home pieces that end up never worn and just given away you are not adding the best value to your wardrobe. The Build Your Best Wardrobe System will ensure that you are buying clothes that you will actually like and wear, adding the best value to your closet.

Now that you know why it’s important to build your best wardrobe , let’s get to what you really want to know. How do you build your best wardrobe. What is this magical system that allows you to buy less clothes, have more to wear, and love everything in your closet?

Step 1: Identify Your Body Shape

Here’s the deal. You don’t want to be staring into a sea of clothes feeling like half of them don’t fit and other half you have to ‘make work’. When clothes are uncomfortable to wear you don’t want to wear them, right?! So you need to stop having clothes in your closet that don’t feel good and don’t fit right. What you need hanging in your closet are clothes that are going to have a comfortable fit and that compliment your body shape. Here’s the other thing…. If you have been buying clothes to cover or camouflage your body, you most likely have clothes that you feel frumpy in. Bummer. Our motto at Fashion Fix is “Change your clothes, not your body!” When you identify your body shape and learn how to dress it you will have a closet full of pieces that you don’t have to think twice about putting on and wearing (hello reducing decision fatigue), because you know that they are all going to fit and not feel frumpy!

Step 2: Know Your Personal Style

Tell us if there has ever been a time when you felt like you were wearing a costume rather than something comfortable? Ok then, let’s make sure that doesn’t happen again! Here at Fashion Fix we don’t chase trends, we pursue personal style. We want you to show up as your authentic self. We want what you wear on the outside to be an authentic reflection of who you are on the inside. Bonus, when you know your personal style and you build your wardrobe with pieces that reflect that the ability to mix and match your wardrobe is endless. Again, combating decision fatigue and executive function shut down. When your clothes match you they match each other, making it effortless to put together outfits because everything will work together! This is versatility at it’s finest!

Step 3: Edit + Organize

Sorry, there is just no way around it. Don’t worry, it’s worth it in the end. Promise! But yes, you do need to edit and organize your closet. Yes, you do need to get rid of that one shirt that you haven’t worn in years but you keep hanging on to it because maybe what if one super random time you might need to or want to wear it. Yes, you do need to get rid of the clothes that are not your current size that you can not currently wear. If you are overwhelmed with your wardrobe it’s because there is too much in there that shouldn’t be, and it’s cluttering out the things that you can actually wear. The time it takes for you weed through your closet is killing you, trust me! Having clothes in your closet that you can’t wear and don’t like to wear is the number one culprit to decision fatigue and executive function shut down when you go to get dressed. Once you’ve culled out the clutter you can then organize the rest in a methodical and systematic way that makes getting dressed paint-by-numbers. You will be putting together outfits in a snap, saving your time and sanity in the morning.

Step 4: Strategic Shopping

Did you know that there are only three reasons you should ever be shopping for your wardrobe? Yup, it’s true. You should only be shopping to add, update, or replace things in your closet. Filling gaps and holes, updating fits and styles, or replacing your ride-or-die essentials. When you shop strategically you are making sure that you are adding value, versatility, and variety to your wardrobe. We want you to stop buying more of what you already have, stop buying more of what you’ll never wear, and stop buying more of what you end up not liking. It does not matter if you spend $5 or $500 on something, it must add value to your closet. Remember, a good deal does not equal a good buy. Strategic shopping will help you have what you need to wear when you want to wear it. This a key step in building your best wardrobe so that you can get dressed with less stress and not exhaust your mental load!

Because all your clothes will fit you, they will be your style, you’ll be able to find them in your closet, and you will have purchased the missing pieces you need to complete your wardrobe. All the elements will be there for you, all the formulas will be laid out, you just have to put them together. Stop sweating and panicking. We pinky swear, you will be able to do this.
